Does that mean non-competitive sports (i.e. charity marathons) are not detestable?

This weren't no charity marathon; it was Boston-qualifier, fully-certified, Rock-N-Roll series marathon. I just happened to be doing it for charity...
The best part about that quotation is that the display he's talking about is actually a track meet!
